YASMIN. YEAH, WELL, KRISTEN, THIS $5 MILLION PROJECT INVOLVES REDESIGNING THE STATION FOR BOTH LIGHT RAIL AND BUS SERVICE. THAT DESIGN WAS COMPLETED THIS YEAR AND SHARED TONIGHT WITH THE PUBLIC. THE EXISTING HIP ROOF STRUCTURE ON TOP OF THE MASONRY ARCH WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED BY A BACKLIT GLASS BLOCK STRUCTURE, AND ADDITIONALLY, THE EXISTING SIDEWALKS WILL BE REPLACED. THIS SHELTER WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH AN EXPANDED MODERNIZED PRT STANDARD BUS SHELTER. THAT’S JUST A GLIMPSE OF WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN THE NEW DESIGN OF STATION SQUARE IS COMPLETE. AND IT WAS JUST LAST YEAR THAT NEW RAIL SLIP RAMP AND SIDEWALKS WERE INSTALLED. SO THESE NEW CHANGES ARE COMING QUICK. THE DESIGN PROCESS FOR THIS PROJECT BEGAN BACK IN 2018, FOLLOWING NUMEROUS COMMUNITY MEETINGS. DURING THOSE DISCUSSIONS, RESIDENTS HIGHLIGHTED SEVERAL KEY CONCERNS, INCLUDING CONFUSING ACCESS AND SIGNAGE AND OUTDATED STATION DESIGN, POOR LIGHTING AND SAFETY ISSUES, AS WELL AS THE NEED FOR BETTER INTEGRATION BETWEEN THE BUS SHELTERS AND STATION PLATFORMS. BUT HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS WHILE CONSTRUCTION AND REDESIGN EFFORTS ARE UNDERWAY, PRT DOES NOT ANTICIPATE A FULL CLOSURE OF THE PLATFORMS. OUR GENERAL ASSUMPTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE FOR THIS PROJECT, BUT WE WILL CONTINUE TO REVISIT IT AS IT GETS CLOSER TO THAT POINT, IS THAT WE WOULD DO ONE PLATFORM AT A TIME. WHILE THAT FINAL PROJECT WILL NOT BE A TOTAL REDESIGN, YOU WILL SEE PLENTY OF UPGRADES LIKE NEW BUS STOP STRUCTURE, EXISTING CROSSWALKS TO BE REMOVED AND RELOCATED, REMOVE EXISTING HIP ROOF STRUCTURE AND REPLACE IT WITH GLASS BLOCK. REMOVE EXISTING WINDSCREENS. SIDEWALKS WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE TOP OF AN EXISTING PLATFORM AND A NEW ACCESSIBLE RAMP. NOW, C
