HCR — Health Issues
Currently there is a monopoly controlling physician board certification within DOD and other areas, creating barriers to physician recruitment within military and negatively impacting physician shortages in the country. In addition, the very same monopoly has been working with the ACGME, that oversees every residency program in the country. Residency programs in the country receive a permanent appropriation of $14B plus. The activities of the ACGME and the ABMS have contributed to physician shortages in specialties such as OBGYN, pain management, integrative medicine and other specialties which are key to 21st century medicine. In addition, their activities are now entering into the continuing medical education market which is a 45B+ dollar industry - all of which contribute to the rise in physician care cost impacting our healthcare system.
