HCR — Health Issues

The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) advocates on behalf of increased and improved access to regular chiropractic care for Americans of all ages both for acute care (post injury) as well as for health promotion (salutogensis) benefit of chiropractic. Given the dramatic increase in chronic illnesses reducing the quality of daily living of a majority of Americans, ICA seeks to have chiropractic and our member chiropractors included in all health related activities and programs, especially through the Make American Health Again Initiative and the forthcoming Agency for Health America.

GOV — Government Issues

The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) advocates on behalf of our members and the chiropractic community regarding government activities that have or will effect current and future doctors of chiropractic, our educational institutions, and research. Proposed cap on student loans for graduate degree students in the health professions and possible government 'grading system' of schools and health degree programs value based on short term salary projections. VET — Veterans

ICA seeks to increase and improve access to regular chiropractic care for veterans and veteran dependents. Improvements are needed in the administration of access and reimbursements both at VA facilities and through the community care programs. Implementation of access to EHRs, continuity of care, and parity in reimbursements. ICA is concerned about published reports of limitations of services based on apparent visit caps which have deleterious effects on the recovery and daily quality of living of injured veterans. At present Tricare is years late adopting policies to include coverage of dependents resulting in lack of needed care of out of pocket costs.

MMM — Medicare/Medicaid

ICA is seeking introduction of a comprehensive Medicare bill to provide a full and timely correction to the Social Security Act as it relates to the rights and reimbursements to Medicare beneficiaries who have paid into a system that continues to have barriers to access for chiropractic, a nondrug option for care. ICA has not endorsed the currently introduced bill because it lacks needed provison to fully and timely correct the SS Act as it relates to chiropractic.

SCI — Science/Technology

ICA seeks an expansion of focus on chiropractic specific research resources. A well funded Division of Chiropractic Research at the NIH that focuses on filling the gaps of evidence that are needed for policy decisions and to advance the understandings of the whole person health promotion effects of regular care, at all stages of life, as well as research that advances the understanding of preventive care, post concussive care, athletic (and military) strength and performance and other related studies.
