                                       AN ACT
 1   Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
 2      Statutes, in fees, further providing for exemption of
 3      persons, entities and vehicles from fees.
 4      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 5   hereby enacts as follows:
 6      Section 1.      Section 1901(d)(2) of Title 75 of the
 7   Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, amended July 15, 2024
 8   (P.L.737, No.60), is amended and subsection (c) is amended by
 9   adding a paragraph to read:
10   § 1901.    Exemption of persons, entities and vehicles from fees.

12      (c)    Processing fee in lieu of registration fee.--No
13   registration fee shall be charged for vehicles registered by any
14   of the following but the department shall charge a fee of $10 to
15   cover the costs of processing for issuing or renewing the
16   registration:

18             (24)    An active volunteer first responder who uses his or
 1    her vehicle to respond to emergencies as a member of an
 2    emergency medical services company, a volunteer fire company
 3    or a volunteer rescue service. The active volunteer first
 4    responder must be the owner and principal driver of the
 5    vehicle but may from time to time authorize another person to
 6    drive the vehicle in his or her stead. For the purposes of
 7    this paragraph, the terms "emergency medical services
 8    company," "volunteer fire company" and "volunteer rescue
 9    service" shall have the meanings given to them in 35 Pa.C.S.
10    § 7363 (relating to definitions).
11    (d)   Limitations.--

13          (2)   Only one passenger car or truck with a registered
14    gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds may be registered
15    to any person under the provisions of subsection (b)(4), (6),
16    (7) and (8) and subsection (c)(16) and (24).

18    Section 2.    This act shall take effect in 60 days.
