                                    AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of May 22, 1933 (P.L.853, No.155), entitled "An
 2      act relating to taxation; designating the subjects, property
 3      and persons subject to and exempt from taxation for all local
 4      purposes; providing for and regulating the assessment and
 5      valuation of persons, property and subjects of taxation for
 6      county purposes, and for the use of those municipal and
 7      quasi-municipal corporations which levy their taxes on county
 8      assessments and valuations; amending, revising and
 9      consolidating the law relating thereto; and repealing
10      existing laws," in subjects of taxation and exemptions,
11      further providing for temporary tax exemption for residential
12      construction.
13      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
14   hereby enacts as follows:
15      Section 1.    Section 205(b) of the act of May 22, 1933
16   (P.L.853, No.155), known as The General County Assessment Law,
17   is amended to read:
18      Section 205.    Temporary Tax Exemption for Residential
19   Construction.--* * *
20      (b)   New single and multiple dwellings constructed for
21   residential purposes and improvements to existing unoccupied
22   dwellings or improvements to existing structures for purposes of
23   conversion to dwellings, shall not be valued or assessed for
 1   purposes of real property taxes until (1) occupied, (2) conveyed
 2   to a bona fide purchaser or, (3) thirty months or commencement
 3   of improvement, whichever is later, from the first day of the
 4   month after which the building permit was issued or[, if no
 5   building permit or other notification of improvement was
 6   required, then from] the date construction commenced. The
 7   assessment of any multiple dwelling because of occupancy shall
 8   be upon such proportion which the value of the occupied portion
 9   bears to the value of the entire multiple dwelling.
10      Section 2.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
