        CIRESI, BOROWSKI, GREEN, WARREN AND PASHINSKI, APRIL 28, 2025

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE, APRIL 28, 2025


                                     AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of May 22, 1951 (P.L.317, No.69), entitled "An
 2      act relating to the practice of professional nursing;
 3      providing for the licensing of nurses and for the revocation
 4      and suspension of such licenses, subject to appeal, and for
 5      their reinstatement; providing for the renewal of such
 6      licenses; regulating nursing in general; prescribing
 7      penalties and repealing certain laws," providing for advanced
 8      practice registered nurse.
 9      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10   hereby enacts as follows:
11      Section 1.     The act of May 22, 1951 (P.L.317, No.69), known
12   as The Professional Nursing Law, is amended by adding a section
13   to read:
14      Section 8.10.    Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.--(a)     The
15   Board shall issue to each person who meets the following
16   criteria a certificate setting forth that the person is
17   certified as an advanced practice registered nurse:
18      (1)     the person holds a master's degree or post-master's
19   degree; and
20      (2)     the person is licensed in one of the following
 1   classifications:
 2      (i)    Certified registered nurse practitioner.
 3      (ii)    Clinical nurse specialist.
 4      (iii)    Certified registered nurse anesthetist.
 5      (b)    A person who is certified by the Board under subsection
 6   (a) is entitled to use the title "advanced practice registered
 7   nurse" and the letters "A.P.R.N." A record of each person
 8   certified as an advanced practice registered nurse in this
 9   Commonwealth shall be kept in the office of the Board and posted
10   on the Board's publicly accessible Internet website.
11      Section 2.    This act shall take effect in 60 days.
