                                       AN ACT
 1   Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
 2      Statutes, in registration of vehicles, further providing for
 3      personal organization registration plates and for Gold Star
 4      Family plate.
 5      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 6   hereby enacts as follows:
 7      Section 1.       Section 1341.1(b) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
 8   Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
 9   § 1341.1.       Personal organization registration plates.

11      (b)    Additional fee.--

13             (3)    For any personal plate issued under section 1365
14      (relating to Gold Star Family plate), the department may not
15      collect an additional fee.
16      Section 2.       Section 1365(a) of Title 75 is amended to read:
17   § 1365.    Gold Star Family plate.
18      (a)    General rule.--Upon application of a family member of a
 1   person who was killed while serving on active duty in the
 2   military, accompanied by [a fee of $20 which shall be in
 3   addition to the annual registration fee and by] such
 4   documentation as the department shall require, the department
 5   shall issue to the family member a special registration plate
 6   designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a family
 7   member of a person who was killed while serving on active duty
 8   in the military.   The department shall design and produce the
 9   special registration plate carrying the Service Flag Gold Star
10   rimmed with blue which represents sacrifice to the cause of
11   liberty and freedom. The words "Gold Star Family" shall be
12   clearly displayed along the bottom of the plate. The special
13   registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck
14   with a registered gross weight of not more than 14,000 pounds.

16      Section 3.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
