                                     AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of November 10, 1999 (P.L.491, No.45), entitled
 2      "An act establishing a uniform construction code; imposing
 3      powers and duties on municipalities and the Department of
 4      Labor and Industry; providing for enforcement; imposing
 5      penalties; and making repeals," in Uniform Construction Code,
 6      further providing for adoption by regulations.
 7      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 8   hereby enacts as follows:
 9      Section 1.    Section 301 of the act of November 10, 1999
10   (P.L.491, No.45), known as the Pennsylvania Construction Code
11   Act, is amended by adding a subsection to read:
12   Section 301.    Adoption by regulations.

14      (c.1)   Access aisles.--
15          (1)     The department shall promulgate regulations
16      requiring that each addition of a new access aisle on or
17      after the effective date of this subsection be a width of 96
18      inches.
19          (2)     The department shall promulgate regulations
 1    requiring that each existing access aisle on the effective
 2    date of this subsection that is less than 96 inches be
 3    altered to 96 inches when the parking lot is relined during
 4    typical maintenance schedules after the effective date of
 5    this subsection.
 6        (3)   As used in this subsection, the term "access aisle"
 7    means a physical area marked adjacent to a parking space
 8    reserved for an individual with a disability that is:
 9              (i)    Designated by white or blue pavement marking
10        hash marks, cross-hatching or other similar visual no-
11        parking indicators.
12              (ii)    Reserved to provide additional space for an
13        individual using a wheelchair, wheelchair lift or other
14        mobility device.

16    Section 2.      This act shall take effect in 60 days.
