                                     AN ACT
 1   Designating a bridge, identified as Bridge Key 8387, carrying
 2      Pennsylvania Route 53 over Patty's Run in Gallitzin Township,
 3      Cambria County, as the USMCR Mary A. Lidwell Memorial Bridge.
 4      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 5   hereby enacts as follows:
 6   Section 1.     USMCR Mary A. Lidwell Memorial Bridge.
 7      (a)     Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
 8   follows:
 9            (1)   Private First Class Mary A. Lidwell was born October
10      11, 1923, in Amsbry and attended Gallitzin High School in
11      1942.
12            (2)   Private First Class Lidwell volunteered for the
13      United States Marine Corps in 1943 and became a member of the
14      Women's Aviation Reserve Squadron until she left the service
15      in 1946. The Women's Aviation Reserve Squadron, located in El
16      Toro, California, at the time, was tasked with repairing
17      damaged airplanes during World War II. For her exemplary
18      work, Private First Class Lidwell was awarded the
 1      Congressional Rosie the Riveter Medal.
 2            (3)   Private First Class Lidwell, at 101 years of age,
 3      continues to be an active member of her community in Ashville
 4      Borough by volunteering her time at her church, being
 5      involved in community projects, fundraising for charities and
 6      working with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as the
 7      Ashville Borough Secretary and Treasurer for many years.
 8      (b)   Designation.--The bridge, identified as Bridge Key 8387,
 9   carrying Pennsylvania Route 53 over Patty's Run in Gallitzin
10   Township, Cambria County, is designated the USMCR Mary A.
11   Lidwell Memorial Bridge.
12      (c)   Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
13   maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
14   traffic in both directions on the bridge.
15   Section 2.     Effective date.
16      This act shall take effect in 60 days.
