                                    AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
 2      act relating to the public school system, including certain
 3      provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
 4      schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
 5      laws relating thereto," in high schools, further providing
 6      for assessment of civic knowledge.
 7      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 8   hereby enacts as follows:
 9      Section 1.    Section 1605.1(c) of the act of March 10, 1949
10   (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
11   amended and the section is amended by adding a subsection to
12   read:
13      Section 1605.1.    Assessment of Civic Knowledge.--* * *
14      (a.1)   Beginning in the 2028-2029 school year and each school
15   year thereafter, in order to graduate from high school or obtain
16   a general equivalency diploma, a student shall correctly answer
17   at least sixty per centum (60%) of the questions on the
18   assessment under subsection (a)(1).

1      (c)   A student with an individualized education program shall
2   not be required to take the assessment administered under
3   subsection (a)(1) or meet the graduation requirement under
4   subsection (a.1) if the provisions of the student's
5   individualized education program indicate otherwise.

7      Section 2.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
