                                    AN ACT
 1   Providing for the America250PA Semiquincentennial Celebration
 2      Bell monument on the grounds of the State Capitol to
 3      commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the
 4      United States, Pennsylvania's integral role in that event and
 5      the impact of its people on the nation's past, present and
 6      future.
 7      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 8   hereby enacts as follows:
 9   Section 1.   Findings.
10      The General Assembly finds and declares that:
11          (1)   The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States
12      Semiquincentennial, commonly known as the America250PA
13      Commission, was established to plan, encourage, develop and
14      coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the
15      founding of the United States, Pennsylvania's integral role
16      in that event and the impact of its people on the nation's
17      past, present and future.
 1            (2)   The America250PA Semiquincentennial Celebration Bell
 2      monument was designed by the America250PA Commission.
 3            (3)   The America250PA Commission has accepted
 4      responsibility to coordinate the preparation, acquisition of
 5      supplies necessary to erect the monument and construction of
 6      the monument.
 7   Section 2.     Location of the monument.
 8      The area outside the East Wing of the Capitol Complex on the
 9   concourse level, between the fountain and the entrance to the
10   East Wing on the grounds of the State Capitol, shall be the
11   location for the Semiquincentennial Celebration Bell monument.
12   Section 3.     The Department of General Services.
13      (a)   Ownership.--The Department of General Services shall
14   prepare the designated location of the monument, and, upon the
15   disbanding of the America250PA Commission, the ownership of the
16   monument shall transition to the Department of General Services
17   and be considered the property of the Commonwealth. The
18   Department of General Services shall be responsible for the
19   appropriate maintenance of the monument in perpetuity.
20      (b)   Cooperation.--The Department of General Services shall
21   cooperate with the America250PA Commission regarding the
22   construction and placement of the Semiquincentennial Celebration
23   Bell monument.
24   Section 4.     Effective date.
25      This act shall take effect immediately.
