        EVANS, M. MACKENZIE, FREEMAN, PROBST, HOWARD, NEILSON, MAYES,
        CONKLIN, MENTZER, FRANKEL AND PARKER, SEPTEMBER 29, 2025

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON AGING AND OLDER ADULT SERVICES,
        SEPTEMBER 29, 2025


                                  A RESOLUTION
 1   Recognizing October 9, 2025, as "Ageism Awareness Day" in
 2      Pennsylvania.
 3         WHEREAS, Ageism refers to the stereotypes, prejudice and
 4   discrimination toward others based on age; and
 5         WHEREAS, More than 90% of older adults say they regularly
 6   experience some form of ageism; and
 7         WHEREAS, The fastest growing demographic in this Commonwealth
 8   is older adults 85 years of age and older; and
 9         WHEREAS, Ageism toward older adults affects their health and
10   longevity, financial well-being and the economy of Pennsylvania;
11   and
12         WHEREAS, Creating awareness of and actively preventing ageism
13   in education, employment, housing and health care benefits all
14   individuals; and
15         WHEREAS, It is up to all of us to ensure that older adults
16   are respected and portrayed as capable, competent, effective and
17   valued in all areas of society; and
1      WHEREAS, Ageism awareness and preventing ageism is beneficial
2   to all residents of this Commonwealth by improving quality of
3   life within Pennsylvania; therefore be it
4      RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize October
5   9, 2025, as "Ageism Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
