        REICHARD, JANUARY 14, 2025

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON AGING AND OLDER ADULT SERVICES,

                                  A RESOLUTION
 1   Recognizing August 21, 2025, as "National Senior Citizens Day"
 2      in Pennsylvania.
 3      WHEREAS, Senior citizens are valuable and esteemed members of
 4   communities across this Commonwealth; and
 5      WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has become a popular destination for
 6   individuals seeking retirement, thus increasing the number of
 7   senior citizens residing in this Commonwealth; and
 8      WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has more than 2.5 million residents who
 9   are 65 years of age and older and an older adult population
10   growth rate more than 20 times higher than the growth rate of
11   its entire population; and
12      WHEREAS, Senior citizens may face unique barriers and
13   challenges in their daily lives, including isolation, chronic
14   illness and limited income; and
15      WHEREAS, Pennsylvania offers crucial services to its aging
16   and older adult population through several State agencies,
17   including the Department of Aging; and
 1      WHEREAS, "National Senior Citizens Day" encourages
 2   communities to appreciate their senior citizens and raises
 3   awareness about the unique needs and challenges that they face;
 4   therefore be it
 5      RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize August
 6   21, 2025, as "National Senior Citizens Day" in Pennsylvania; and
 7   be it further
 8      RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
 9   residents of this Commonwealth to visit or call a loved senior
10   citizen in their life to check in and see that the senior
11   citizen's needs are being met and to offer appreciation for the
12   wisdom and knowledge they offer.
