                                     AN ACT
 1   Amending Title 16 (Counties) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
 2      Statutes, in special powers and duties of counties, providing
 3      for other powers and duties of county humane officers.
 4      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 5   hereby enacts as follows:
 6      Section 1.    Chapter 153 of Title 16 of the Pennsylvania
 7   Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subchapter to read:
 8                               SUBCHAPTER Z.6
 9                          OTHER POWERS AND DUTIES
10   Sec.
11   15399n.   County humane officers.
12   § 15399n.   County humane officers.
13      The county commissioners may employ a county humane officer
14   who shall be authorized to enforce dog control as defined in
15   section 102 of the act of December 7, 1982 (P.L.784, No.225),
16   known as the Dog Law, and animal cruelty laws of this
17   Commonwealth as contained in 18 Pa.C.S. Ch. 55 Subch. B
18   (relating to cruelty to animals). In order to be eligible for
1   employment as a county humane officer, an individual must meet
2   the training requirements contained in 22 Pa.C.S. §§ 3712
3   (relating to training program) and 3713 (relating to continuing
4   education program).
5      Section 2.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
